Sandstone

Sandstone is a common type of sedimentary rock formed from the accumulation and lithification of sand-sized mineral grains. These grains, which may be composed primarily of quartz, feldspar, or various rock fragments, are transported by agents such as water or wind before being deposited in ancient environments like beaches, riverbeds, or vast dune systems. Over geological time, the cementing of these grains by mineral compounds, such as silica or iron oxides, solidifies the material into the characteristic reddish or beige rock. Due to its relative porosity and varied composition, sandstone exhibits diverse physical properties, making it a material utilized throughout various civil and industrial applications when natural resources are considered.
