Phobia

Phobias are defined in health sciences as an intense, persistent, and often irrational fear of specific objects, situations, or stimuli. These conditions are characterized by excessive anxiety reactions that are disproportionate to the actual danger posed by the feared subject. From a biological perspective, phobias are believed to involve dysregulation within the brain's emotional processing centers, leading to an over-activation of the "fight-or-flight" response when exposed to the trigger. The development and management of these disorders generally involve therapeutic approaches aimed at retraining the association between the fear stimulus and the appropriate physiological response, thus reducing the intensity and frequency of the fear reaction.
