Hybrid (biology)

In biology, a hybrid organism results from the crossbreeding or hybridization of two different parent organisms. Genetic hybridization involves the mixing of genetic material from two distinct individuals or species, leading to an offspring that inherits a combination of traits from both progenitors. The viability and characteristics of the resulting hybrid depend heavily on the degree of genetic compatibility between the source species. These genetic combinations can lead to novel traits that may confer advantages to the organism, forming a basis for biological diversity and adaptation in various ecosystems.
